Gabriella Vorley

I've wanted to work in the Costume industry since a very young age, and carefully catered my academic choices towards it; but i have always been excited and passionate about hands on work. I love experimenting and learning about new techniques and always strive to be and do my best with everything i produce. So far in my artistic studies and free time, i have explored a wide range of mediums and themes such as 'Steampunk', birds, Something out of Nothing, 17th century textiles, millinery, etc. My most recently project has been making children's stripy capes and soft toys for an American based charity, Orphan's Hope. Whether it is accessories, clothes, leather work, shoes or even props, i want to try it.

As a costume student and an art student previously, i have always had a structured environment strategically designed to test essential skills for my future. My experience in the industry during my placement year has allowed me to enhance my skills and understand the relevance of theory and how to apply it to real life situations. It is here that I experienced the reality of live sets and strictly time managed workrooms and the absolute necessity of teamwork and communication. Initially I expected this to be a daunting experience, however I found I could rise to the challenge, remain calm in the face of pressure and am a committed team player. I know this is the environment I want to be apart of for my career and feel ready and excited for this next stage in my life.
